As we reflect on the past year, we are filled with pride for the remarkable achievements and milestones that have shaped 2024 at Billington’s Gingerbread. With a heritage dating back to 1817, last year our company celebrated 207 years of tradition and innovation, continuing to delight our customers with our beloved exotically spiced, crisp, gingerbread fingers.
A year of excellence and growth
In 2024, our customers once again showed their appreciation for our products, awarding us an overall five-star rating. The standout favourite was our Case of Billington’s Gingerbread, which includes 12 individual packs. This delectable treat has become a must-have, with one pack simply not enough to satisfy the cravings of our loyal customers.
Our team also saw significant growth, with 22 new employees joining us, bringing our total workforce to 75. This expansion reflects our ongoing commitment to excellence and our dedication to meeting the increasing demand for our products.
A royal visit and community support
One of the most memorable moments of the year was the royal visit from His Royal Highness, The Duke of Gloucester. Accompanied by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Anna Turner, and Deputy Lieutenant Nichola Peers, The Duke toured our gingerbread bakery. Led by our Managing Director, Gemma Williams, the visit showcased the unique blend of tradition and innovation that defines our gingerbread creations. The Duke witnessed first-hand the dedication and craftsmanship behind our heritage gingerbread biscuits and production techniques.
Our commitment to the home of gingerbread, Market Drayton, remained an important part of our ethos. We proudly supported the Ginger and Spice Festival, sponsoring the Gingerbread Heritage Trail and various activities, including a children’s gingerbread decorating session that brought joy to many families. Additionally, further afield, our team’s hard work and determination helped raise an impressive £2400 for the Buddy Bag Foundation, which supports children who enter emergency care after fleeing violent situations by providing essential items.
Awards and accolades
This year, we further demonstrated a commitment to quality and excellence. Three of our team members celebrated 10 years of devoted service, a testament to their dedication and the family-like culture we nurture at Image on Food. We also achieved BRC AA Grade accreditation, reaffirming our commitment to the highest standards of food safety and quality.
Another highlight was our collaboration with the BBC for an exciting new television series set to air soon – keep your eyes peeled! This opportunity was a proud moment for our entire team and a testament to the recognition our brands continues to receive.
Looking ahead
As we look to the future, we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. We look forward to working with our stockists both new and old to continue to spread the word about Billington’s exotically spiced gingerbread. A big thank you to our stockists, customers, employees, and community for your unwavering support. Here’s to another year of success!
